Joel Gillespie: My Leadership Pathway

While serving as the audio engineer at my home church in OH, the Worship Pastor stepped down in his role, and it was at that point that I began inquiring about the process of what it would take to consider moving into that position. I knew I was not qualified, and with some direction from others, I applied to Leadership Pathway for my next step.

Leadership Pathway connected me to Community Christian Church in the Atlanta suburb of Sharpsburg, GA. I was taken by their motto as a church ‘for the rest of us.’ I love the people here and the outward focus the church has. I’m very new in my role, but I am serving in the Creative Arts area at one of our campuses, and I am helping oversee social media and photography, too.

If asked why a person or a church should consider residency, I’d say that it is a win for all parties involved. The resident becomes better equipped, the church learns to develop people more fully, and the Kingdom benefits from self-aware and more competent, confident ministers.

I’m Joel Gillespie, and this is my leadership pathway.
